Connectors are quick but solder is forever.

This used to be our favourite soldering iron. It heats up quickly… does a great job of soldering… and as bonus it has an outlet on the soldering tip that does a great job of heating shrinkwrap. We bought it on Amazon. It was a bit pricey… but IOHO… more than worth it.

Of course a butane iron requires that you have a good supply of butane. Not always easy to find in “paradise”. One thing that you almost always have on a boat is 12v. Thanks to a new friend in French Polynesia… we now have a 12v soldering iron. Works quickly and doesn’t draw that much current.
