Q is a French boat that came equipped with 220v shore power. When we brought her back to North America we converted her to 110v. Now that we are back in the world of 220v we decided to convert her back. Confused yet?
In order to NOT have to do this again… we finally found a battery charger that swings both ways. We have 2 shore power cords so we can now plug in either power source (not that we are in marinas very often). We can also charge the batteries with our Honda generator in emergencies (but can’t remember the last time we did this).
The 220v water heater just takes a bit longer to heat up on 110v… and we have a separate inverter that still gives us 110v for all our North American devices. Almost everything works on both 110 and 220 now BUT NOT EVERYTHING AND NOT POWER BARS… so please be careful!
Wish we had done this at the beginning. Would have been so much easier.
