We learned early that if we were sailing on a port tack… closing the drain through-hull on the STBD side was a very prudent move… unless we WANTED to flood the boat.
For 7 years Chantal would automatically close the STBD through-hull every time we weighed anchor (effectively closing ALL the drains on that side of the boat… including the bathroom sink that we use all the time). We finally came up with this $12 solution. Why not leave the thru hull open and close ONLY the offending drain?
Why did it take us 7 years to think of this?
